That belief is the foundation of everything we make.
Cecily & Saffron was born from a life spent in motion. Founder Cecily grew up between Key West, the US Virgin Islands, Oregon, Maui, a winter season in Venezuela, and an impactful side trip to Jamaica. By sixteen she was competing professionally in windsurfing across Europe and Asia. Home was never a fixed address. It was wherever her bags landed. Through decades of moving, she discovered something quietly profound: the right bag isn’t just functional — it’s a constant. A container for your belongings and your life.
As long as she had her bags, she was home.
That relationship with beautiful, purposeful objects deepened over twenty years of running a retail boutique and transformed completely in 2012 when Cecily’s mother — her original travel muse — took her to India for the first time. The people, the cotton, the art, the history, the food. She fell hard. Return trips required justification, so she started importing textiles, furniture and kitchen accessories. Travel to Bali was woven in, then production partnerships, then a quiet realization — she had spent a lifetime building exactly the right foundation to create something of her own.
Cecily & Saffron is that something.
We design travel accessories, home textiles, loungewear, and kitchen goods — what we lovingly call life containers and stuff movers — sourced from small, family-run makers in India and Bali whose craft is as beautiful as it is intentional. Cecily’s daughter Zanna June has joined the creative vision, keeping the brand connected to what’s current while honoring what’s timeless.
Our hope is simple: that owning a piece from Cecily & Saffron sparks something. Maybe it's a trip you've been putting off. Maybe it's just the feeling of adventure on an ordinary Tuesday. Either way, we want to bring the world a little closer, and remind you that it's yours to explore, safely and confidently — and invite you to experience it as the welcoming place it truly is.
After all, the best souvenirs are the stories we bring home. And the world, we've found, is almost always warmer — and more beautiful — than we expect.
A note on the label: our very first collection carries the name True Story Company — a nod to the incredible true stories that unfold when you travel. It was our original name for the brand as a whole before it found its true home as Cecily & Saffron, and we loved it too much to let it go entirely, so it lives on as the name of that first collection. After all, travel makes for the best true stories — and truth, we've found, is often stranger, more interesting, and richer than fiction. If you spot that label inside a bag from our earliest run, now you know why.
